Which antimalarial are you planning on using?

Doxycycline is a medication taken once daily and continued for 4 weeks after returning from the malarial area.
Atovaquone with Proguanil/Malarone is a medication taken once daily and continued for 1 week after returning from the malarial area.
Both medications need to be started 2 days before you enter the malarial area.

A possible side effect of Malarone or its generic, atovaquone and proguanil, is depression. This does not affect everyone who uses it, but it is a common side effect. The alternative would be to choose doxycycline instead, which you can select in the questionnaire above.
