AllCare Pharmacy offers a confidential Emergency Contraception Service for eligible patients who require urgent contraception following unprotected sex or contraceptive failure.

Is This Service Free?

Yes. If you are registered with a GP in England, emergency contraception is available free of charge through our NHS service, subject to a pharmacist consultation and eligibility assessment.

Our pharmacists can supply Levonorgestrel 1.5mg or ellaOne® (Ulipristal Acetate 30mg) where clinically appropriate.

Treatment Options

Following a clinical assessment, our pharmacist may supply one of the following emergency contraceptive treatments where appropriate:

Levonorgestrel 1.5mg

Levonorgestrel is an emergency contraceptive tablet that can be taken up to 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex. It is most effective when taken as soon as possible.

ellaOne® (Ulipristal Acetate 30mg)

ellaOne® is an emergency contraceptive tablet that can be taken up to 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex. It may be recommended depending on your individual circumstances and the time since unprotected sex occurred.
